eligibility as a team

I am trying to form a team of a few people and one of them are not a citizen or permanent resident. In the eligibility section, it looks like I can submit the work on behalf of the team. Is my team still eligible for the competition or do we need to find another person who is either a citizen or a permanent resident? Thanks!

Thank you for your interest in the challenge. The only requirements spelled out in the rules state that "Individuals submitting on behalf of corporations, nonprofits, or groups of individuals (such as an academic class or other team) must meet the eligibility requirements for individual contestants."

These eligibility requirements, as you note, include being "a citizen or permanent resident of the United States and 18 years of age or older before the submission period ends."

There is, therefore, no restriction on forming a team of the type you describe. However, just to be clear, I would also highlight one additional item spelled out in the description of teams in the rules section: "Challenge submissions can be from an individual, an entity, or a team of individuals. Prize money will be awarded to the project leader for distribution to the rest of the team. The NEA will not be responsible for failure of a project leader to distribute prize money."

Thanks again for your interest. We look forward to seeing what you come up with!

    Steve
